Hello, I am totally ignorant when it comes to cars, so I hope you all can help me out!
I was driving my car the other day and to make a long story short the car had no oil. I realized this about 2 miles from my house. I made to my apt and shut it off. It however started to make a loud clicking sound like a baseball card in the spokes of a bike yet alot louder. I think it is a spun Rod Bearinng. The car still runs, but it still has loud clicking. I haven't driven it more than 20 ft since this happened. I don't want to pay more than 400 bucks for repairs. I think I would rather just get a different car if it would cost more money then that. I was wondering how long it will run like this? What is the cost to fix? Will I hurt myself or anyone else driving with it? Should I try to drive on it? Or Sell It?
Or just call up ecology to come take it. I am not mechanically inclined nor do I have any friends who are so If I had to take it in I would be paying full price! Thanks Dan

Hi there,

The short answer is if I was you I would get rid of it. Don't throw away your money even to have it checked out, if it is as you say, knocking after running out of oil, with limited funds to spend you will not get very far at all, save your money and up grade. As for driving it, I would not trust it to go around the corner, let alone go any distance.
