I have a 2001 Hyundai Accent, 1.6L, with 65K miles and purchased new. I just paid it off and am trying to get everything done to keep it for a few more years. I just had all the belts, including the timing belt replaced for $429 at the dealer and they now want to replace the boots for $450 and the AC failed as soon as I brought it home from this last service. All of the AC oil ran out of that little U hose on the firewall which I assume means the evaporator is leaking. I filled it with a can of R312 and it was cold all the time I was driving (in town and on the freeway - about 50 miles) but after the car was parked for a few hours, the oil suddenly ran out again. My questions are: Could there be something besides the evaporator needing changing, how much would the dealer charge and would I be better or worse off going to a non-dealer AC shop?
