I'm being told by the dealer that the timing belt for this car is only good for 60000 miles. I need to change it now. He also says that if the timing belt goes it ruins the entire engine. How much of this is true?

Hi there,

Timing belt change intervals vary between cars but 60,000 Mls would be about correct and yes a broken timing belt would do damage the engine as the pistons will strike the valves and bend them or even crack a piston. Good advice, change the belt when due.
