I recently had a major tune up done on my 2002 / 4 cylinder Hyundai Santa Fe after it started doing a lot of jerking and putting. I thought originally it was "bad gas" and put an STP treatment in the fuel tank. That didn't work so I took it to Firestone for them to run diagnostic to find out the initial problem and do a major tune up being that it was time. I was at 120,000 miles. (Now I am at about 125,000 miles) So they replaced belts and spark plugs and did a fuel injection cleaning and a few other things. When I picked my car up at $1200 later the putting was still there. I took it back again and they fixed it again. After having to bring the car back about 4 times now because the belt that goes to the power steering and AC keeps coming off, now the car is jerking violently and the check engine light is on again. What is wrong with my car? Please help!

I am having the same troubles. The codes on mine are o2 sensor and running lean. I replaced spark plugs, wires, air filter and belts. It is running horribly and just guzzling the gas! I put in a call to my local dealer to see if the o2 sensor is under warranty, it is a $110 dollar part and there are two, one before and one after the firewall. Still awaiting a response.

Open your hood, remove the four bolts holding down the top cover of your engine, remove cover. You will see the topside of your engine, furthest away from you and closest to the firewall is the throttle body, there should be two cables going from left to right, under said cables should be a hose roughly 3/8 of an inch thick and roughly four inches long, this hose or tubing is black and spongy it goes from the throttle body to the engine casing. There is most likely a hole in it where it is sucking air or it is not connected completely. Check here
