The pump is made with a hole so you can tell when you have a bad pump, it will seep water out of a weep hole. Replace the pump and the leak will go away.

Suggested Repair

Replace the water pump. Coolant seeping from the weep hole indicates the pump has failed.

Conversation Summary

The owner of a 1992 Hyundai Excel with about 99,000 miles reports antifreeze leaking from the small hole in the water pump and asks whether the timing belt must be removed to replace it. The expert explains that the weep hole is designed to show when the pump is bad and recommends replacing the pump to stop the leak. The timing-belt question was not answered.
