I'm experiencing an intermittant misfire that I can't figure out. New plugs, rotor, dist cap. Timing correct. Coil meets specs. What is the "igniter" in the distributor that my manual refers to? Could it be the source of a misfire that comes and goes? If not, any other suggestions? Thanks!

The ignitor's job is to tell the coil to fire plugs-try checking the engine's compression/injector also the fuel pressure.
