1995 Hyundai Excel Enging warning light

On my friends car enging warning light is on. I don't have intilligent tester (IT), which will be very easy to find the problem and to fixed it. Since I don't have IT, what are other way to find the problem, and what can be the main reason for engine light on?

Tell your friend too take it too there local mechanic for a scan,"It dose not cost you a cent for a scan!",Then you will know what it is,The only time the mechanic will charge is when you get him too fix it for you.Oxigen sensor`s on the excel`s go on the bink! alot.My Thoughts?-(Enging light on)- Sounds like too me enging management problems,Like EFI eg.. injectors,Or peddling chamber has heaps of crap in it.Check air filter thats its not plugged,Check all (plugs eg.wires) under the bonet lose wire plugs are common couse`s,Check too see if the air flow tube conncetor`s (HOSE CLAMPS),are tite.check all fluid`s too!,I have the same car and there a great car and verry easy too fix.Viperman
