Does anyone know if the cabin filter prevents leaves and debri from coming through the cabin heater vents. I would think this would be the reason for the filter, however, after leaving my car sit I had all kinds of stuff flying in through the vents.

It is designed to keep things out like that. However, if the car sat for awhile, chances are you got mice that ate through the filter and made a nest. Check for that and let me know what you find.
