2007 Hyundai Elantra noises under the hood of my car

When I go to stop and sit at a stop light there is a knocking under the dash board right where the steering wheel is. Plus when you lift up the hood of the vehicle right around the timing belt there is a like a screaming noise coming from that area. Oh and last summer my car died on me at a stop light. I put it into park and started it up again. Ever since it has been idoling rough. Please can you help me?

Check under the dash for a loose bracket. As far as the screaching near the timing belt, check to see if the accessory belts are tight and in good condition. A timing belt won't screach. And finally, the rough idle, has the check engine light ever come on? Have you checked for vacuum leaks?
