The gas cap was not closed on our car. Immediately thereafter the check engine light came on. It there any easy way to elminate the light from staying on now that the gas cap is tightened. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Take the vehicle to a good autoparts store and ask them to retrieve and erase the fault codes. Write down the code. If the light comes back on. Have the car read again to verify same code and repost for more info.
