I recently had repairs done on my right front wheel after I swerved to avoid a crash and had my wheel go into a deep pothole. The mechanic replaced the steering gear, the power steering pump and some other related parts to the tune of $1800. My daughter noticed immediately that there was some play in the wheel while driving home-later that week the steering was not responding and it turned out there was a 'leak' in the power pump tubing or hose. I paid another $90 for 'temporary tubing' while the mechanic ordered the part from the manufacturer. The part has 'come in' and this is my question: The way the power steering assembly is set up shouldn't the replacement of the pump have included checking and replacing the hoses supplying the pump if they were damaged? Or is the guy trying to soak me?
