Hi, I know nothing about cars, so thanks in advance for any answers! I was driving home from work today and my car started shaking really hard and I could hear metal clanking onto the road. It made it the rest of the way home (about 5 miles) and when I got out of the car there was a ton of black liquid (guessing oil) on the pavement right below the engine. Help!

Hi there,

I feel that the engine has broken a con rod, the oil on the road is an indication that the rod may have punctured the sump or punched a hole in the block, if this is the case, the engine is totally destroyed, you will have to have a bit of a clean up and a look around the bottom of the engine and look for any signs of serious damage.
