About a week ago my 'check engine' light came on in my 2003 Elantra. I brought it to the deal and they stated it was the flex pipe. They replaced the pipe and everything seemed great until the light came back on. I brought it in and this time they are stating it is the purge pipe. I have no idea what the purge pipe is and whether or not this repair can wait (dealer won’t answer question... Just stating that the engine light will remain on). Is there anyone that may be able to help me please understand what a purge pipe is and whether it is something I should have repaired immediately. Thank you.

Look at the paper work and see if you can find out what trouble code you have. Might be po 420 etc. Ive never hear of a purge pipe. See if it is actually a purge valve. Let us know.

Hey thank you for your help. I took a look at the paper work but I couldn't find the trouble code. I did however discover that it list the part discription as pcv. I'm guessing that stands for purge something valve. Do you have an idea what this may be?
