2003 Hyundai Elantra 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

Sometimes, more often than not lately, I will be driving and it is almost as if I am in neutral. When I press the gas it revs the engine like I am not even in gear. It does not matter what gear I am in. It doesn't do it unless I push the pedal down to go faster, as if to pass someone. Do you have any ideas?
