What would cause the fuel to back-flow so bad during fueling that the flow cuts off every few cents worth of gas?

Hello,

This issue is typically cause by a clogged vapor canister or a stuck valve for the EVAP system.

When the fuel tank cannot vent properly, at the time of fill up the vapor is unable to escape as the fuel enters the tank. This crates a bottle neck affect at the filler neck of the fuel tank. This causes the fuel pump to shut of every few seconds and takes a very long time to fill-up.
