Hi

I had the battery replaced for my 2001 Hyundai Elantra recently. It has 60100 miles on it now. Shortly after that I noticed the check engine light is on. I took it to Autozone. They gave me the code P0422 and said O2 sensor needs to be replaced.
When I checked this forum I saw P0422 had different message. 'P0422 Main Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)' Not sure whats the issue. Is it ok to reset the check engine light and see if it comes up? I dont see anything wrong with the car though.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

That code either means you have a bad catalytic converter or as they said a bad 02 sensor.
