2000 Hyundai Elantra Warning lights on the display

The other night my wife stopped to put gas in the car and after that it would not start. The display on the dash has a battery light and an E brake light that came on. The E brake goes brighter when I set the brake and dim when released but the battery light remains dim. Got any suggestions?
