2000 Hyundai Elantra Two Wheel Drive Automatic

WHEN REPLACING REAR DRUM BRAKE PADS THAT ARE STILL WELL ABOVE THE RIVETS, IS IT NECESSARY OR ADVISEABLE TO ALSO RE-MACHINE THE DRUMS? COULD THIS CREATE A PROBLEM OF CURVATURE THAT WON'T MATCH THE NEW PADS.

Hi LARLEW,

If there is no abnormal wear of the drums, it is not necessary to reface them.

There is also a limit for refacing drums and brake shoes do not sit 100 % on the drum. It takes some time to wear in.
