1999 Hyundai Elantra starter grinding on flywheel

We put an engine in this car and now the starter is grinding on the flywheel it did ok for about three months then the starter went out and the guy changed the starter hisself that one grinded on the flywheel and burred the teeth now every starter last about 3 days we have changed the thrust bearings the torque converter and the flex plate several times on the converter and flex plate but now the starters will not engage and have been breaking the top ear off of the starter housing

Hi hopsing420,

For starters to grind and going out that often it could either be a mismatched starter motor and flywheel or the alignment of the starter.

Did problem occured immediately after replacement of the engine?

Have recently found out that they had an early an late 99 production and to make this motor work I am supposed to use the flex plate from a 92-94 with a sppecial washe I ran into this once before when I was 18 they totalled the car before we got the problem fixed

They had full coverage and the vehicle had an "accident" over a cliff and into the lake
