1997 Hyundai Elantra problem starting

after starting car at the begining of day, driving it for awhile, after cutting off and trying to start it again, it will crank, start somewhat, then shut down. after letting it cool down for apprx. 1/2 hr to 45min it will start right up.

Has the check engine light come on? Have you checked fuel pump pressure?
