I thankyou for taking this Question.I have a 2003 Hyundai accent that every once in a while when you are cranking it over it starts cranking normal crank speed and after about the third crank it will suddenly almost stop as if it was vapor locked.I've checked the timing belt,it is due to be changed but is there and with number one up all marks line up.I also checked timing with my genisys and timing is right on.injectors are not leaking down, starter bench tested ok put a new one in to try it.It was the same, compression check was 190 across the engine.there is not a diff.if it is cold outside or hot.it does seem to do it more when you first start it but it will still do it hot just not as often.any help would be great. THANKS

Hi there,

Have the battery checked, make sure that all the terminals are clean and tight, and have the starter checked as it may be polling, that is it could have an internal short that causes the starter to over heat and draw excess current.

As i stated i have already had the starter bench tested and replaced it .it is not starter related. tested complete electrical system it is all fine. the motor cranks over fine then it just almost stops and makes one more very slow revalution then starts.and its not all the time.i could sit in the car and just keep starting it about 10 times it will maybe do it once or twice.out of 10.
