Where is the crankshaft position sensor

Four cylinder front wheel drive automatic 118,000 miles.

I have looked everywhere on the internet, and I tried looking for a Chilton's on this car but I cannot find somewhere to show me where the crankshaft position sensor is.

I drove 2,300 miles on it in three days and it worked fine until a day later when I tried starting it. I had a little trouble starting it, but it started up nonetheless, then as I was backing up it just shut off. Then it would not start. It would crank and sound like it is about to start, but it just does not. I checked for a spark and there was none.

I know it could be a number of things. But i want to check the crankshaft position sensor but cannot find it. Thanks for your help.

On left side engine near exhaust. See diagrams.

thanks, i was able to locate it, but unfortunately, that was not the problem. but the camshaft sensor looks pretty fried.

Four cylinder front wheel drive manual

Hi! I need to replace (or actually have my "male" friend replace) my crankshaft sensor in my car. I need to know the exact location of it for him and be able to verbally direct him to it over the phone!

I would greatly appreciate any help and if a diagram could possibly be included (or you can lead me to one) that would be awesome!

Is it just a take off put on or are there any special settings-is the camshaft sensor the same to replace?

crank sensor is behind the crank pulley. the timing belt has to be removed to get to it.

why are replacing both sensors?

Thanks for replying-I just decided not to replace the crank sensor-I had no idea the timming belt needed to come off thats very labor intensive-I trhought I would be proactive and replace the sensors since they are realitively cheap-avoid problems in the future-I was told if the crank sensor goes out then the care just cranks and doesn't fire is that true?

yes, but is not a common failure. i would keep them in case of a future failure, if it ever occurs.

The CKP is located on the left side of engine block ,near the flywheel,

The sensor is located near the front of the engine down low, here is a guide that will give you an idea of what you are in for when changing the sensor with e diagram (below) of where it is on your car.
