Hi,

My 2002 Hyundai Accent is making a flapping sound when put on accelerator and the engine is also missing out at lower RPMs. The check engine light was on . The local Hyudai service center people told me that transmission of my car is about dead and 4th gear can wear off anytime now. They suggested a complete replacement of transmission which will cost somewhere between 2000 USDs.
My car as nearly 70K miles on it and is not in 5/60K warrenty bracket anymore. Is changing the trasmission only solution to this ? My concern is 2 Grands that I might have to pay.. Is there a work around possible ?

Hi there,

I would take it to an independent transmission specialist and get a second opinion first before you splash out so much cash.
