When the weather is warm ignition key getts very hot to touch why

Hi deangelis,
A substantial amount of current passes through the ignition switch and if contacts are not firm, it heats up and is transferred to the key and cylinder.
Check the ignition switch rear for melted solders, if there are, it is time to replace it.
