2002 Hyundai Accent Brakes

Brakes problem
2002 Hyundai Accent 4 cyl Automatic 39,000 miles

When I coming to a slow stop, I feel and hear a thuming sound, from front brakes. The front brakes are fairly new, and are at 90%. I had the brakes done by a friend who did the brakes out of his garage. So, I am sure all that was done was that, the brakes where replaced with the previous brakes.

I appreiate any suggestions. I do not want to be talked into any unnecessary work.
