I have a 2001 Hyundai Accent-automatic. I am the original owner. The pulse generator has been replaced 4 times in the last 6 years. Now at 102000 miles (and a warranty that ran out 2000 miles ago) it needs a new transmission. The symptoms are the same now as they always have been: trouble shifting into gear, won't go into 4th gear at all, jerky downshifting. Are these 2 problems related? Could fixing the pulse generator put a "band aid" on a more serious problem that took longer to recognize? Do other people have this problem? Should the manufacturer be responsible for repairs even though I'm outside the warranty?
