My girlfriend has a 2000 hyundai accent. it will run fine for a couple weeks but then will not crank. Good plugs, battery, will turnover but wont start so good starter. Plug wires are new. My dad is a pretty good mechanic and suspects that it is the fuel pump. Pump doesnt turn on when the ingnition switch is in start position. Fuses are good for fuel pump. Does this sound like a starter? Also, does this specific model have an inertia switch, and if so, where is it? And, is there an access panel to get the fuel pump out without dropping the fuel tank?

Try direct power to the fuel pump-if it comes On-find the fuel pump relay and go from there. Could also be the fuel pump relay control in the computer- The computer energizes the relay.
