or does the engine airfilter have a line from the canister going into it and there really isnt a seperate tiney air filter for the cantister

when I LOOKED UP THE PARTS for the fuel system, it showed a purge valve leading to a air filter, it may be that a line goes to the engine air filter, this is what Im trying to find out because I have a fuel filling problem at the pump and it says to check out everything back to the canister and purge valve plus an air filter? Dont know much about this.
