Engine Mechanical problem
1997 Hyundai Accent 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual

Hello to all!

I'm driving my very first Hyundai Accent 130xs Manual. What a wonderful little car.

My problem I'm struggling with is every time I start the car, and it is cold, the choke comes on. No problem with that, but, my car revs very high. The revs only come down once the engine is on temperature.

It seems as if the choke is working with the engine coolant. Could there be a temp sensor that has gone faulty perhaps? Please, could anybody help me?

Kind Regards
Carel

Thank you very much. I take it that the 1.5L & 1.3L uses the same temp sensor relating to the choke?

If I had any point, I would give it to you!

Many thanks again!

Hello,

I own a 1997 Hyundai accent 1.3L X3, and I'm afraid I have the same problem. The automatic choke goes up to around 2,750rpm when starting the engine, and gradually goes down as the temperature gauge goes up.

Where I live, temperature is never less than 10 degrees celcius in the coldest of days, and I am pretty sure that this excessive amount of choke is not required.

Since the problem seems to lie in the amplitude of the choke rather than in the duration, could anyone please guide me as to how to tackle this problem?

Thanks in advance for all your help. Best of regards.
