There are different actuators that provide different functions. For example, a mode door actuator is responsible for the airflow direction. A temperature mix actuator (blend air door actuator) is responsible for the air temperature entering the vehicle. There are others as well such as the recirculation door actuator (fresh air door) and if you have rear HVAC, there are ones for that unit.
I attached a few pics below to give you an idea of locations and how many there are. I suspect the noise is from the front and not the rear. If that is wrong, let me know. I have a few questions.
First, are there any changes you can request that cause the sound or intensity of the clicking to change? Let me know that so I can limit possible causes. Additionally, does the sound start as soon as you turn the key on or do you have to prompt a change in temp, airflow direct, or anything other for it to happen?
