Humming sound on start and disappear at 30 rpm's. Smoke coming out at the side of the engine and engine smell like burning.

The humming is a concern. Check to make sure the drive belt isn't slipping on one of the belt driven accessories. It could be causing the belt to smoke. Also, make sure there are no oil leaks causing the smoke and smell.

Do me a favor. If you can record what is happening and upload it for me to see and hear, it may help me diagnose the issue. Or, remove the serpentine belt and see if there are any of the belt driven accessories (alternator, power steering pump and so on) that are difficult to move. When the belt is off, start the engine for a few seconds to see if the sound and smoke is gone. If it is, then we know it's one of the accessories or a tensioner issue.

If you look at the attached pic, I highlighted the pulleys to check. I have a feeling either the tensioner or idler pulley bearing is going bad and causing both the sound and smoke.

Do this and let me know what you find.

Good morning,

Just to add what Joe suggested, if the external belt is good and nothing is locked up, it could be the water pump. The pump is driven by the timing belt and is under the cover for the timing belt.
