I changed to my winter tires (brand new) and a howling sound has been coming from the passenger side. It was not like this until the change over. Could it be the tires, or something else? When I am at 60km you hear it, but as I slow down and come to a stop, nothing. I had the window open to see if I could hear it out side of the car, nothing. I am now puzzled.

Hello SmilyGirl,

Yep, this can be caused by the tire tread to be specific, on the right side tires put your hand over the tread and move it in both directions (your hand will be dirty after FYI) it should be smooth, it you feel roughness to tire is causing the issue which should go away after a few hundred miles, also you want to check the air pressure in the tiers as well. Here are two guides to help you see what I am talking about and how to check the air as well:

and the air pressure specs will be on the sidewall of the tire (small print)

Please check the images below as well and let me know what you find and if you could upload images of the tread so I can tell for sure if that is the problem.
