I was driving then stopped for stop signal, when I accelerated the car started to hesitate and shut off and and will not start. It cranks but does not start. Does the engine need to be replaced? Car listed above is the CTS model.

Hello, I'm Danny.

Just because the engine stopped running doesn't mean you need to replace the engine. It might just be a simple breakdown needing a repair. I think you first will need to check for having a spark and fuel. Here is a tutorial for how to check for spark:

If you don't have access to a fuel pressure tester most auto parts stores have a tool loaner program and can rent one. Here is the tutorial as well to check fuel pressure:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-fuel-system-pressure-and-regulator

The fuel pressure specification for your car is with key "on" engine "off" and should be 55-60 PSI. Let us know what happens after performing these tests and we'll go from there. Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.
