How to use the gear lever and the meaning of the letters?

P=Park, vehicle doesn't move.
R= Reverse, vehicle goes backwards
N= Neutral, No gears engaged, vehicle can roll freely.
D= Drive, Forward gear that automatically shifts the gears up/down as needed.
L= Lower gear Some have multiple low gear symbols. When selected the transmission will stay in that gear.
