I know this is going to be extensive, but I need to replace the pan after an incident. Can you see if you can find me the instructions?

Yep they get 11.6 hours to do the job, so it is a mission. Start by disconnecting the battery and drain the engine oil with filter. You will need to raise the car up, here are the instructions on how to change the upper and lower oil pan. Be sure to use sealant when reassembling. Check out the images (below). Let us know if you need anything else.
I believe they are talking about the front sub member with the steering rack.

okay, so I doubt the transmission needs to be removed.

I don't think so, it looks like the pan is removed straight down.
