I would like to remove the handle of the automatic transmission of the car listed above. The shop manual says that you have to place the lever in a gear, depress the handle button and pull it out. I have tried but unsuccessfully. It is so hard to have it done.

Never heard of that. Can you shoot a picture of the dipstick so I can see it?

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.com. I did some research for this issue and found very limited information. However, when I checked under shift interlock service, I did find directions for removal. According to Alldata, this is how it comes apart:

Hold shift knob securely and depress release button, then pull up on shift knob. Ensure that the spring loaded release button does not eject from shift knob rapidly.

Give that a try and let me know if it helps. I realize the only difference is you mentioned placing it in gear. This does not mention anything like that.

Let us know if you get it.

Take care,
Joe
