how to perform my own tune up and what needs to be checked for this procedure

The car has no pick up speed when taking off? And while driving at high speeds on freeway I have to literally press my gas pedal all the way to the floor in order to keep up with the other vehicles on the road. please help. Thank You!

yes I agree, have you changed the fuel filter any point, you have high mileage, have you done any tune up work ever on this car? at 170k you are due for everything sparks plugs, wires, fuel filter, oxygen sensors, timing belt, and possibly a fuel pump if you're not getting enough fuel volume from it at higher rpms.
