I am trying to reconnect the gear shift lever to the transmission cable. The gear shift lever now swings freely. I believe the clip connecting the lever to the cable has either broken or become disconnected. I have been told it is necessary to disable the SIR and remove the steering wheel in order to accomplish. I need help.

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.com.

Here is a link that discusses the system as well as how to disable and remove the component. You will need to page down a bit to find directions for disabling and removing the unit.
