Yesterday when I took the key out I was still able to engage blower fan. Now today when I was inside my house. I heard a car trying to start for about three minutes. When I when to check it out I was shocked to find it was my van. There was smoke rolling out of the hood. By the time I got the hood opened it was to late.

Good evening.

By too late, do you mean it caught fire?

It sounds like you had a short somewhere and it caused the issue. If you have insurance they will do an investigation to determine the cause.

Sounds like your ignition shorted out and started doing whacks things. So is it a total loss?

No I did not catch fire. Just a ton of smoke. So I know I need a new starter. Now I cannot seem to find a ignition solenoid for this car. I found an ignition switch that plug into the back of the lock system. Is that what I need or do I need the whole harness that attaches to the steering column?

Have you had the car checked for the failure? Someone needs to check it and give you a root cause of the failure for the issue and the resulting damage. I am sure there is wiring damage just how much needs to be determined.

Is that not what this site is for? I can fix anything. Was just looking for some guidance to point me in the right direction. Seeing if someone has had the same problem with this vehicle.

We are here and not there and have no idea of the damage that has been done or the extent of the damage. If you can give me that information, I can guide you to a repair.
