Hi,

I am buying a car for 2 years while living in the UK. For 3 series BMW's between 06-12, what is a safe amount of miles to have on the car?

Should I stick to under 60K? Is 90K ok for these? Is it different with Diesel?

The reason I'm looking at these is because the VWs are basically the same price. I wanted a nice ride for long distance and something that I can put sports equipment and golf clubs in.

Thanks!!!!
John

This is a hard question to answer.... it really revolves around how the car has been maintained over its life, if it has had regular service 90K is not an issue at all, but if it was let go so to speak, you may be looking at a real money trap. this goes doubly so for diesel, so look into the service history if you can and if it has been taken care off, you should be able to buy an older car or one with higher Kms with a fair amount of confidence, I would also get a mechanic to give any car you want to buy a look over as added extra peace of mind.
