alternator removal

2009 KIA SPORTAGE

Removed all bolts except for the long one. That bolt does not come out but the nut is off. I got that far. Alt is loose & all cables are off. How does it come out of the car. Do I have to drop the CV shaft? I tried twisting the alternator every which way!

it doesn't say much but pic shows a slot that bolt sits in so it may just lift up , you may haveto remove it where the wheel liner is.

OK I'm that far but there is not enough room to pull the alt the the wheel opening! Do I have to drop the CV shaft?

Yes remove whatever you you too to remove the alternator.

What all has to come off to change out the alternator? or where does it come out?

Disconnect the battery, remove the wiring to the alt, remove the belt, and unbolt the old and reverse the sequence to replace it.

The engine may need to come down by removing passenger side engine mount or by removing right cv shaft to allow enough clearance to get the alternator out. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.
