how do I add fluid to my transmission

There should be a lower drain plug and a higher fill plug. You're going to need a manual pump with a transfer tube in order to fill it. Keep the vehicle in neutral while running and make sure the vehicle is level preferably with all 4 wheels off of the ground. Use the manual pump to push new fluid into the fill hole until you see it start to drip back out. once its a very slow drip, it will be at the proper level.

Number 1 is the fill plug and number 2 is the drain plug.

THE JUG OF GEAR OIL IS WHAT MY JEEPS (CJ5 AND CJ2A) USE (DO NOT MISTAKE THIS FOR YOUR TYPE OF TRANSMISSION FLUID!)

AS AN EXAMPLE, THIS IS MY '77 JEEP CJ5s 3 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION, IT HAS A DRAIN PLUG ON THE BOTTOM AND A FILL PLUG ON THE SIDE, WHEN MINE STARTS DRIPPING BACK THRU THE FILL HOLE, I GIVE IT A COUPLE OF MORE QUICK SQUIRTS AND QUICKLY INSTALL THE PLUG.

JUST A NOTE: THE TRANNY IS NOT FULL!, THE CORRECT LEVEL IS AT THE FILL HOLE!

FROM THEN ON, IF I WANNA CHECK THE LEVEL, I GET THE JEEP LEVEL AND SCREW THE PLUG OUT, IF IT STARTS RUNNING OUT, I QUICKLY REINSTALL THE PLUG. ALL IS GOOD!
