I drove about three miles from my home when my temperature needle moved over to the 260 range and the alarm sounded. I let the engine cool for a while and I checked the coolant level in the reservoir and in the radiator and both were dry. I added some water to the radiator and drove back home. It did not overheat on the way back home, so I let it run for a while and I checked for leaks everywhere. I thought it might leak and I found nothing. I thought it might be the thermostat, but I figured you guys are the experts, so I will wait for your advice.

Thanks much. You guys have an excellent website.

Hello, I am Danny.

Once the car cools down be sure to add a 50/50 mix of antifreeze to the radiator and overflow tank since you said it was empty. Get back to us after that and let us know how it goes. I have attached a tutorial for you to view.Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.

Thanks much for the advice and the tutorial Danny. I think I might have an intermittent
thermostat problem, if that can happen.I added the coolant like you suggested and let
the engine warm up to normal (with the A/C on low)and it never got above 185 or 190 degrees. It seems to be opening and closing like it is supposed to, but I am going to replace
it anyway, just to be on the safe side. Thanks again for the help. Keep up the good work.
