Good morning, THERESA GUIDRY FUSELIER,

It's possible someone may have given you the wrong battery. If this is the case, the positive and the negative could be reversed. Could you tell me what part number you got?

I have included a couple of pictures for you. These are both Interstate batteries. One is Group 24 the other is Group 24F. Group just means size.

Notice they look very similar but the positive and negative are reversed.

I would check this and make sure it's the right battery. You should have a Group 24F.

Let me know what you find, and we can go from there.

Thank you,
Brendon

Hello THERESA GUIDRY FUSELIER,

Okay, well that's good sounds like you got it figured out. Happy to hear it.

Sometimes when the battery light is on it means it isn't being charged correctly. This could indicate an issue with your alternator.

You can use a multimeter also known as a DVOM (Digital Volt Ohm Meter) or simply Voltmeter to check if it is charging correctly. I will add an image of this for you.

If you don't have one you can grab one from Amazon or your local auto parts store.

This article will help guide you in testing the Alternator:

This article is just a general guide on how to use the Multimeter, just so you have the information:

Hope this helps.

Thank you,
Brendon
