When I pull the hood release cable in the car, it doesn't pop open anymore. I have to have someone go to the hood of the car while I pull the release cable to access inside the hood. Would the latch or cable need replacing? Or is there an adjustment that can be made? Or is there another mechanism that helps the hood to pop up so I can access the release lever without pulling the hood up to access it?

Hi,

Is the cable tight when you pull on the release?

Take a look through these directions for cable replacement. See if the cable is broken. If it is, then take pliers and pull on the cable to see if it will release.

2. Disconnect the hood opener cable (A) from the hood latch (B), and remove the bolts (C), then remove the hood release handle (D).
3. Using a clip remover, detach the clips (E). Remove the grommet (F) from the body, then remove the hood opener cable from the vehicle. Take care not to bend the cable.
4. Install the cable in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Check the clips for damage or stress-whitening, and replace them with new one.
- Route the cable through the hole (G) in the body.
- Make sure the hood opens properly and locks securely.
