I bought my car without an owners manual and am having a hard time finding the location(socket) for the diagnostic tool/ machine. could you please point out its locaton, thankyou.

1996 and newer have the OBD2 connections. You need to find the jumper wire that is often above the passengers feet. That might be what you are looking for.
