1999 Honda Prelude Automatic 150000 miles

Recently my '99 Honda Prelude's shift knob has been getting stuck. Whenever I put it in park but leave the car on I am having to turn my car off and then back on to get it to go into drive. It used to happen every so often but it is becoming more common. Does anyone know why that could be happening?

Hi cpeza08,

The interlock system is not working correctly preventing the gear shift from being moved out of park.

Check the brake lights to ensure that they are working.

When vehicle is stopped with engine running and shift in P, check if depressing the brake pedal causes a clicking noise under the center console. It should click.
