1997 Honda Prelude bad valves?

My car doesnt run so well the gas milage is bad and at idle it shoots out of the exhaust(doesnt flow like in other cars. When I was changing my header I noticed that all of my exhaust valves were white but one was black. Could I have a bad valve and how much is it to repair this kind of problem. Thanks

Hi there,

First thing to do is get a comp test done, check it wet & dry, this will prove if a valve is the problem, also check the valve clearances ,this is done cold, you may have a tight valve, see table for clearances.
