I am trying to adjust the clutch of my 96 prelude because there is too much free play. I've looked on how to do it but there is still a lot of free play. I have bled the clutch twice and replace the master and slave cylinder. What other problems can it be?

Hi,

A hydraulic clutch system has no adjustment for excessive play. However, if you feel play in the pedal, there could be an issue with a return spring.

The clutch pedal really has no adjustment mechanism. However, the pedal has a return spring which forces the pedal back up. If you have replaced the slave, master cylinder, and bled the system, confirm the return spring isn't damaged, broken, or out of position.

I attached a pic below of the spring I am referring to. Now, that should bring the pedal fully back to the clutch switch. Check to see if that is where the play is coming from, a broken spring.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe
