Engine Performance problem
1992 Honda Prelude 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

i have a honda, h23a1 4 cyl, duel overhead cam, and I am having trouble getting the timming down after replacing all vaccume lines, and valves, timming all the ballancers, crank, cams, and even with the distributor turning, I cant seem to get the idol timming to its proper 850 rps's on a cold start idol.

Hi kbdogs214,

During cold start, the idling speed usually starts at about 1500 and when warmed up it goes down to 700 rpm.

Can you provide a clearer description of the problem you are having?

Honda Dual -Cams, when you set your cam timing, did you know there are holes in the cam shafts? Just b-hind the cam pulleys, in the first cam cap, there are holes that you can put a punch in each one to hold cams in place. You want to use a punch as close to the size of the hole as you can. I do not remember what size they are, but you will figure it out after you try a couple. If you have any vibration when your done, in the motor, that useually means the balance shaft belt may be off a tooth or two. Good Luck if your not done w/ it already.
